Pros

Very strong culture of sustainability, doing good and believing in brands. A well respected company for your CV that recruiters and other companies really value. Good for learning about business and marketing.

Cons

Stifling inability to progress or be promoted: roles are being constantly downgraded meaning more junior people do increasingly senior/stressful work without the recognition or salary. It is not uncommon for an ABM to be doing the work of a SBM - and senior management know this. People hang around because they believe Unilever is a benevolent company that will reward them fairly, but sadly this isn't always true. Beware: the squeeze is especially severe at Work Level 1 (i.e. ABM) - it is near impossible to move on from this level in the current business climate. Almost there is a ludicrous amount of tension between Global and Local team, which means you waste more than half your time gaining 'alignment' internally rather than doing anything meaningful.

Pros

Working at Unilever in Raeford offers strong overall benefits, including good pay for the area, solid health insurance, retirement options, and additional perks like tuition assistance and employee discounts. The company provides a stable work environment as a large global organization, with opportunities for career growth and skill development in a modern, well-maintained facility. Employees often highlight the team-oriented culture, supportive coworkers, and clean, safety-focused workplace. Overall, it’s considered a reliable employer with good work-life balance and long-term career potential.

Cons

Working there can involve long hours and rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, which can make work-life balance harder depending on your role. The job can also be physically demanding, especially in production or warehouse positions, requiring standing for long periods and repetitive tasks. Because it’s a large corporation, there can be strict policies, less flexibility, and slower decision-making. Additionally, while growth opportunities exist, advancement can sometimes feel competitive or slow without the right connections or timing.

Pros

It is a large company with a record of 3 years without a recordable injury. Occasionally feeds the employees

Cons

The biggest issue with this plant and it invades every aspect of the company is a complete lack of ability to properly communicate information. The applies internal to departments, across departments and up and down. They have the technology to do it, just not the organization. Company could probably use much more Engineering organization.
