Great brand name with tremendous learning opportunities, but a poor and unfair compensator. - Assistant Brand Manager Unilever Employee Review

Pros

One of the best brand names in the corporate world. Incredible opportunities to learn best in class brand marketing. Additional level of respect that comes along with working with a market leader.

Cons

Lower salaries at lower levels and in general much lower than market rates. Biases in compensation bands. Inflation based increments much lower than price increases of the company's own brands. Cultural misfits and corporate politics abound. Little long term succession planning and development of corporate leaders.

Pros

Working with brands you grew up with is really exciting! The people I have met have all been amazing as well!

Cons

Everyone I have talked to are overworked and feel underpaid and despite the amount of work they do, there is no recognition or appreciation. Upper management is a mess and UL is constantly restructuring, often going from new BACK to the old structure while simultaneously letting people go leaving more people overworked. While most people are amazing, there are a few micromanagers where expectations are unknown. In addition, the lack of communication is awful. Often, I hear about certain cuts through the vine rather than directly from the people involved
