Pros
It's a world of knowledge if you're willing to spend your personal time searching the intranet. Bravo awards are nice during the year when you do receive them. Flexible work schedule
Cons
Whether you receive an annual bonus is said to be based on performance. How much based on salary grade. Unfortunately that isn't true. Leadership likes to promote that the company is a results oriented company and high performers will be rewarded at the end of the year. Unfortunately promoting the idea doesn't necessarily mean doing it. Whether you receive a bonus first depends on your seniority level within your team. If you work with many veterans of uhg/optum then don't count on getting a bonus unless more are hired on. Apparently leadership feels the need for every department to place 25% of it's team on the bottom feeder, aka not meeting expectations, even if one or more of those 'poor performers' met all key project deliverables, received only positive reviews and an NPS average of 10. Since department managers are forced to 'select' poor performers, you would be better off being joining a team of mediocre performers IF you are a high performer yourself. Poor performers usually do not receive a bonus at all. Seems the strategy is to ensure productivity by portraying a false rewarding results system. After people have already put in their maximum, missed out on family friend events to meet deadlines, and given more than they needed to THEN we find out there really is no such thing as paying for performance. It's more like paying for performance for profit. Then to later read in a published article that the CEO received a bonus in the millions does not improve anything.
