Pros

The ability to sell beautiful things and build your business, selling across departments, PTO/benefits, good support if you are lucky to work under good manager, employee sales, store restaurants, credit union

Cons

Not the same company it was just five years ago. Uncertainty under new ownership. False promises to new hires, like wiping your arrears and ability to sell in a store with little foot traffic. Lack of transparency to employees. Difficult to get PTO approved bc of mystery blackout dates. Used to be a positive, encouraging work environment under former store director. High turnover but most new hires don't understand work needed to deliver customer service that NM is known for. Commission only; no base pay.

Pros

Amazing discount, good PTO policy

Cons

they have restructured so many times and have no problem letting associates go who have been with the company for 10, 15, or 20 years. VP’s are so disconnected from the teams. They preach about ways to work (WOW) but it only applies to corporate and has nothing to do with the vast majority of the employees that work in the stores. They only do it for the headlines. They could care less about the 750 restaurant associates, they let the VP go then had someone who never worked in a restaurant lead the division.. the HR managers in the stores were all moved from salary to hourly so they could add corporate layers. The HR managers who have been with the company for years, were now hourly associates. They don’t care about their teams.

Bad environment

Pros

Free food when there's a vendor's rep visiting the store.

Cons

Working at NM has been a frustrating experience due to a serious lack of leadership and accountability. Upper management consistently fails to provide clear direction, leaving assistants confused and often overburdened with unrealistic expectations. They always ask for too many tasks (follow-ups, operations, social media, sale strategies, housekeeping) without offering the necessary support to succeed. On top of that, the work environment is toxic, with abusive treatment from certain managers & stylists who seem to think that intimidation is an effective management style. Constructive feedback is rare; instead, many employees are subjected to harsh gaslighting criticism, and micromanagement. Favoritism is another major issue. Certain employees seem to get special treatment, or easier workloads based on personal relationships rather than merit. This leads to resentment and low morale across the department, as hard work often goes unrecognized unless you're part of the favored circle. Also, there's no moving up with this position, you'll stay the same forever. Overall, this is a company that needs to seriously re-evaluate how it treats its employees, from the top down. Without changes in leadership and culture, the work environment will continue to deteriorate, especially after the merger.

Pros

good pay, good retired tech/fashion prop sales, hour long lunches

Cons

terrible work environment with whole bunch of eating disorder talk and projection at models (even from some management), management makes everyone stay until 4:30 even when all the minimum work requirement (and oftentimes more) is done, they will write you up for something extremely small then dismiss a big thing from another employee, terrible communication between managers therefore terrible communication to employees, employees get publicly ridiculed when they're just asking questions even amidst the terrible communication issues that are already there,
