I've never had such a weird and unpleasant interview process, ever. First of all, the job description is very odd. The last sentence on the job description says "candidate with any level of experience will be considered.". Come on, this is a Director level job. 3 months later, when I almost forgot about this job, they emailed me to schedule a phone interview with the hiring manager. They gave me a few time slots to choose from, one of which is 8-9pm. I've never been asked to interview at night, and the hiring manager is local.
The phone interview with the hiring manager was a complete disaster! He may have called from his cell phone with a lot of background noise. He interrupted me a few times during the interview and was very inpatient and said "I have a hard stop in 5 minutes.". He was very unfriendly and disrespectful, the way he asked the questions sounded like he was the policeman and I was a criminal, and I was begging for a job at Rakuten Marketing. I regret why I stayed on the phone through the very end of the interview just to let him continue insulting me. I am glad that I didn't get the job. The way you are treated during the interview is an indication of how you will be treated if you are an employee of the company. What a nightmare it will be if that hiring manager is my boss! God bless that I've never had a boss like that!
