Job Description

With an expanded focus on fintech and neobanks, Value Added Services (VAS) Issuing Solutions enables capabilities including digital issuance of card credentials, Transaction Controls and Notifications, issuer loyalty programs, card benefits, and ATM services in a variety of forms from API services to full-service on-behalf-of models. Issuing Solutions help Issuers perform better by delivering value added services in a consistent manner through common integrations, at scale, with global reach and evolving capabilities to meet the demands of a digital marketplace.

Transaction Services Team works on a wide variety of projects including VTC (Visa Transaction Controls) and VFC (Visa Flexible Credentials) to support Value Added Services (VAS) Issuing Solutions as part of the core Visa Technology Organization, driving the diversification of our revenue with products that differentiate our network and deliver valuable solutions across other rails.

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our Transaction Services Team in Singapore!

As a Software Engineer, you will help design, enhance and build our solutions for customers in an agile, fast-paced environment. You will be working with colleagues across the company, who will help support and challenge you every day. Designing solutions, writing code, unit testing code, reviewing code and frequent check-ins for continuous integration is just part of your DNA. You will see your code going to production in just a few weeks and used by strategic accounts worldwide. Our team, as well as our group works under the principles of a common engineering model with both development and testing expertise. You are expected to have hands-on experience and sufficient knowledge to contribute on both fronts as needed.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design and develop new system enhancements as well as fix defects in existing software.

• Demonstrate interest in building features using Generative AI technologies and show willingness to adopt GenAI tools, such as Claude, to improve productivity, accelerate solution design, support development workflows, and explore innovative product capabilities.

• Help our clients achieve their business goals by understanding their requirements and delivering the best solution.

• Be proactive and take key responsibility for resolving client technical integration challenges in Certification / Sandbox / Production environments. Work closely with stakeholders from Client Support, Production Engineering and Product Teams to ensure we are able to resolve client integration challenges quickly for faster time to market / time to revenue.

• Contribute towards meetings and discussions with product and architecture teams.

• Leverage newer technologies and develop solutions to build the next generation of payment platforms.

• Work with a team of talented engineers and ensure DEV / QA best practices are followed.

• Understand coding guidelines and participate in code review processes.

• Review test strategy and test cases developed by test engineers to ensure optimum quality of solutions being delivered.

• Excellent interpersonal skills along with a team player focus, with an ability to hone leadership skills over time and work as a mentor to junior team members in future.

• Develop close working relationships with members of teams within the organization.

• Become knowledgeable of Visa's core technology, infrastructure and standards.

• Participate in design and implement various aspects of secure payment solutions.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basis Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering / Math / Information Systems (or equivalent) OR ~3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

We want our Software Engineers to do much more than just write code. You would be expected to bring in expertise that include:

• Experience that will demonstrate proficiency and ease with one or more programming languages, quality assurance, scripting languages and operating systems.

• Hands-on development experience in backend technologies including JAVA, J2EE, SQL and related technology stack, preferably incorporating open source libraries.

• Hands-on experience to Spring Framework, Spring Boot, MongoDB and JPA / Hibernate is a strong plus.

• Interest in adopting and innovating with GenAI technologies is also a strong plus.

• Hands on experience in distributed architecture & data streaming approaches like Kafka and RabbitMQ is a strong plus.

• Strong foundation expected in data structures, algorithms, problem solving and complexity analysis.

• Strong designing, analytical, programming & communication skills needed, along with aptitude for building stable solutions.

• Knowledge about writing unit test cases using frameworks like JUnit / TestNG is desired.

• Some demonstrated experience with n-tier web application development and experience in latest JDK is desired. Java / J2EE certification is a Plus. Experience with web services standards and related technologies (XML, JSON, REST, SOAP, WS*, AXIS, JERSEY) is nice to have.

• Hands-on experience and knowledge on UI technologies (React, Typescript, CSS) is a strong plus.

• Experience in resolving client (internal or external) integration technical challenges through debugging, troubleshooting and eventually finalizing RCA and communicating same to all stakeholders is a strong plus.

• Demonstrable experience utilizing object-oriented patterns and design best practices is a strong plus.

• Exposure to tools like Postman / any REST Client is desired. LINUX skills are required.

• Exposure to frameworks like Karate and TestNG is good to have to carry out QA tasks. Some knowledge of test automation frameworks is also a strong plus.

• Familiarity with common application security vulnerabilities and how to overcome them (OWASP) is a Plus.

• Working knowledge of Continuous Integration / Delivery, and Test Driven Development is good to have.

• Knowledge in micro services and hands-on experience on container platforms like Kubernetes, Docker and OpenShift would be a strong plus.

• Knowledge on Performance analysis tools like Riverbed and Monitoring tools like Splunk would be a strong plus.
