Pros

This last few months I can see the vast difference the management team and colleagues are making - well done all of us! I was told about business plan and how we all can make a difference - this is what I’ve always wanted to hear at my previous employers but was never happening hence joining Ark. You could feel positive and collaborative people and culture, people coming up with ideas and genuinly caring about the business. No politics but great values. There is regular evaluation of my work done rather than once yearly official appraisal. I like that! My bosses are approachable and available at any time, how often would one get this in other companies?! There is support and the each And every day we work as a team, regardless one’s title.

Cons

I have seen a massive change and now just a few more improvements and we will all be proud of the culture and the business we support and are a part of. We can do it!

Pros

There are no pros to working there.

Cons

This company was the most toxic workplace that I have ever experienced working in. The company has worked hard at employing a management team who have been carefully moulded to fit into their narcissistic ethos. Members are promoted by nepotism and are incompetent at their roles therefore they constantly blame others and lie about their own shortcomings, you know who you are. They make frequent microaggressions, your views are not taken on board and your contributions are ignored. They say something didn't happen the way it did. Dishonesty is rife there. They create a narrative to blame others for their incompetence. They are vindictive and constantly gaslight individuals. They criticise every move you make to break you down and feel like anything you do is not right. Certain individuals receive preferential treatment at this company, this is often based on personal relationships or biases, which links to how this workplace is so toxic. This undermines trust, fairness, and teamwork among employees they don't support decisions, they are manipulators and try to control everything. This toxic workplace is characterised by pervasive behaviours and attitudes that have a severe detrimental effect on the well-being and performance of employees. There is a high turnover of staff with a constant revolving door (8 people left at the beginning of the year) usually the reason for this isn’t good, and therefore shows signs that this firm is not making their workforce happy. This toxic workplace is an environment that will actually poison you, will damage your confidence and self-esteem, and may also damage your health. The longer you stay in this toxic workplace the longer it will take for you to recover. My advice is don't work here you will regret it once you scratch beneath the fake surface of the company and the reality dawns.

Pros

- Great software product with a huge amount of potential - Good reputation over 20 years means spinning up more Sales and Marketing is going smoothly - Real opportunities for growth of both scope and people - Full Senior Management suite now in place and working well as a team - Working from home during the current pandemic has really made us streamline communications - All Risk products are even more relevant now and not likely to be subject to a downturn based on economic conditions

Cons

- Large appetite for change can go too fast for some employees - we need to work on ensuring consistent results before the next improvement - Launching the next phase of growth needs to be done transparently with the whole team; top-down communications in the past have been too infrequent and we're changing that - Benefits and perks for employees need to be modernised, but this is fortunately part of the growth plan to improve culture as we expand

Pros

I have been working at Ark for 6 years now, started as a grad and since then grown as an individual and within my career. Since working for Ark, I have gained incredible amount of exposure and experience in business management, professional services and Software. In my time here, I have been able to gain experience in Operations, HR, Sales, and Finance but also been able to contribute in solving operational issues for clients and the company. Over the last couple of years my focus has been working with prestige and blue chip clients, sales, forming long term relationships, solving business/client issues and creating value. Working at Ark is stimulating as one day is never the same and motivates you to achieve more for the company and clients. I love working with the people I do, they are dedicated and intelligent professionals who you can rely on! Also cherry on the top is that we have a supportive management team. This all makes it a place where you want to come and work to achieve the company goals but love what you do too.

Cons

It’s a fast paced and dynamic environment and some people we have employed in the past have not been able to keep up with the pace or only want to go at their pace! We work as a real team and very result orientated and slow pace employees do let the team down.

Pros

Once adjusted to the fast-paced environment, you get to enjoy the atmosphere while being productive. New and innovative ideas are welcomed; there is always an opportunity to pitch to the CEO and the management team and work collectively to implement the ideas into projects. Management is extremely approachable and you can definitely learn a lot by observing their approach to problem-solving. You get a clear understanding of what is expected from you, constructive feedback is provided when needed, and everyone is there to help in case you get lost. For the first time in my life, I had the opportunity to go home earlier on a FRIDAY, but I didn't want to. I actually wanted to stay and assist our clients, finish up some extra work and most of all, spend some time at the end of the day bonding with my colleagues. I feel truly welcomed and appreciated, which definitely makes me want to contribute more to the company.

Cons

As the business is growing rapidly, there might be days where things get a bit hectic - but that helps our team bond as they team-up to resolve the issues/strategise.

Pros

Easy accessible management team. Very flat management structure which means directors will be always there to support people and the teams. There is always time for fun and laughter too. We work in challenging time and challenging industries however I’ve always felt supported since the day I’ve joined by my peers, my team and people around me.

Cons

It is fast paste with some demanding clients so none of the days will be the same. Some of the people who have joined Ark have not had company and people at their heart however luckily there are no longer with us.

Dreadful experience

Pros

I genuinely can't think of any

Cons

Incredibly stale culture and office environment. Everyone was afraid of the CEO (apart from the close-knit senior management team), who was unwilling to listen to or respect her staff. The industry itself was dull, as was the work. Long hours and late nights were expected as standard. Given there are some positive reviews, perhaps (hopefully) things have changed.

Pros

- Fast paced environment - Had a collaborative, supportive team while I was there (excluding management) - Great location

Cons

- Highly toxic environment - Micromanaged by CEO at all times - Falsely sold roles during the interview process. - Many do not do what they applied for - Extremely high labour turnover with new employees leaving or seeking new employment within the first week of starting - No appreciation from senior management and any appreciation shown is not genuine - CEO is completely money orientated and company does not care for the employees or their health - Employees are overworked and underpaid - Pay increases only occur when employees express they want to leave - Business will find reasons not to pay well deserved bonuses by belittling the individual and blaming them for things out of their control - Senior management does not take ownership for their mistakes or accept that they need to change for the culture to improve - Management is controlling and has instructed employees not to engage with certain individuals, encouraged bullying within the workplace - CEO expects employees to stay late without paying overtime

We appreciate your candid opinion of our business It’s sounds like you had a very poor experience and this is always disappointing to find. We appreciate that not all companies are well matched to employees and this example being no exception. Your Perception has to be respected We have a very large group of highly engaged employees from long term. Our response We often take someone on and if we and they see something that they can contribute more to or take on then you are right about what they applied for. This is seen as a selling point for the staff as happy for the opportunity, progression and rewards. They enjoy expanding their knowledge and skills and experimenting to see what they do and don’t like as well as helping their colleagues and company grow. We seek purpose led employees wanting to make a difference and grow with us. Leaving in first week is a very gross exaggeration we have one of the top records for those past probation with average serving members of staff in our industry of average 5.5 years ! We genuinely appreciate our staff sorry if we were unsuccessful in demonstrating this to you. We appreciate appreciation is a very personal matter. We agree our CEO is focused on profitable growth amongst the balance on employee engagement, customer satisfaction and learning and growth as we are not a NOT for profit organisation. We do care about health you will see from payroll records we have on occasion had long term sickness from longer serving members and have gone well above expectations in the market for high levels of supporting our employees. We have rigorous policy on health matters please see handbook and consultants manual. The CEO has approved the above and this is fact. According to payroll we are generally above market rate apart from grad entry level and second jobbers in which we are as good as the market. If we saw bullying in the workplace we would not accept this. Also see our policy and handbook. Nor have we had one case brought to line management on exit interviews so we have to disagree with this. We encourage opportunity to be open and we are very sorry you kept this to yourself and felt this way as we could have offered you support. You are correct we do not have “OVERTIME” as most consultants in our industry do not also have the concept of overtime but all employees are entitled to give or not to give discretionary performance over the contractual agreements. Recognition is there whatever they contribute and promotion for those capable too. The consultants industry is not a 9-5 mindset that’s input based but about helping clients and making a difference and being recognised and rewarded for outcomes. The business doubled its profits this period and once again retained 94% of long term clients! 5.5 years averaged employee service This is testimony to our improving management and employing and retaining outstanding dedicated employees. We wish you all the best.

A well-structured management team, transparent & supportive. a warm welcome from other members of the consulting team, I feel part of the ARK family already. Varied, interesting work, quality really matters, great to be part of an organisation that sets the gold standard.

Cons

Induction was fine, could have been over the slightly longer time period, I am informed that changes are being made to improve the onboarding experience
