Good stepping stone

Pros

I learned a lot while working there and it helped prepare me for the corporate world due to the hierarchical email chains and meetings preparing for seasonal drops.

Cons

Leadership was not the best, there was a lot of changing of the guard.

Pros

Good culture, not micro managed, amazing discount! Area leader and District Manager were fun, friendly and very approachable. Nice customers who really trust you and the process. Amazing place if you are good at clienteling and relationship building!

Cons

Sometimes hard to lead a sale without explaining the model first, but you get used to it. Inventory can be spotty and technology can get glitchy at times (but that is the same in most retail stores).

Pros

Building outfits & boosting confidence! Some unique people come through the door. If you provide good customer experience it's a great place to network, with customers.

Cons

Unrealistic goal setting for commission. Shaky leadership. Really high turnover. Expect to fulfill management responsibilities, it's even in the job description. The company has changed hands a few times recently. You have to go above above and beyond for a pay raise.

Pros

Easiest job you'll ever have but it's not worth the endless frustration.

Cons

Bonobos are capable of altruism, compassion, empathy, kindness, patience, and sensitivity although none of those qualities can be found in the leadership team. The company is more endangered than their namesake monkey.

Pros

Bonobos was an incredible experience and allowed me to have a ton of growth in my career. The whole company cares for and values its employees and displays their gratitude for them as well. I couldn’t be more proud to have worked under such an incredible leadership.

Cons

I don’t have any to mention.

Meh

Pros

- good pay - flexibility for students - easygoing workday, not too fast-paced as it is e-commerce

Cons

- poor leadership (regional management) - toxic sales etiquette, customer's free will of choosing whether or not to purchase should not be treated as associates fault, unnecessary guilt for lost leads

Toxic Workplace

Pros

Hybrid office schedule. Some nice people that are fun to work with. Generous discount. Generous office snacks. Dogs allowed in the office. Unlimited PTO if you can manage to take any time off without guilt from your leader due to the insurmountable work on your plate.

Cons

Outdated systems and incompatibility between the platforms and systems. They can’t even get the wifi to work in the office. Lack of process, dysfunctional, workplace led by ineffective leaders. No check points in place for consistency or quality, and leadership does nothing to set standards and process to improve the product. A few genuinely nice, talented people, but overshadowed by a toxic, gaslighting clique of lazy individuals (mostly on the production and design teams) that have been with the company 8+ years. It’s a miracle any of these people have made it to adulthood successfully. Current leadership protects these people and promotes the worst of them for the sake of having their minions do the grunt work. Be prepared to walk on eggshells daily. Crying and whining are core values at Bonobos, it is championed. If you attempt to ask for clarification or try to implement any process, you will be labeled negative, become topic for gossip, and ostracized. You’ll be told to “dig in”and “take ownership” of your area, when there’s nothing to own because it’s all a mess. Leadership isn’t effective and changes often. They say all the things: that they want to improve the processes and implement new ones, etc but nothing changes. Double standards and FAVORITISM are real at Bonobos. HR is a joke, they’re so fake and practically non-existent. Ridiculous bi-monthly Town Calls on Fridays where they sing to you and promote “a positive, inclusive culture”, and post fake numbers for the business. They literally lie about financials and profitability. It’s only a matter of time before Walmart figures out they’re just bleeding money here and gets rid of this brand.
