Pros

Great training, and nice colleagues. Also good product discounts (50%), and perks. You can take home 2 small sized products each month (not perfume). Pretty much everyone is queer, which is nice.

Cons

The further up you go in the lush foodchain, the less and less they seem to understand human interactions. The culture of approaching/re-approaching is frankly horrible. We know how awkward it is, but higher-ups are breathing down our necks, making work a pretty unpleasant and stressful environment. The managers tell the supervisors to tell the sales assistants to 're-approach' a customer for the third time, without the common sense that "i'm just looking" means "leave me alone please". The senior team are on the shop floor more than ever, and with big smiles, can be very patronising. If you've been into a LUSH, as a customer, you can imagine how it is to work there. Intense. Colourful. Sometimes fake.

Pros

You meet mostly great customers teamwork is what makes the team most staff are kind and helpful Lush pays London living wage

Cons

Supervisors are encouraged to monitor you and your sales tactic and also to tell you to approach customers, that is stressful cause you know you are being watched. Lush as a whole can sometimes feel a bit cult-like managers from store to store vary in management style so you're lucky if you end up in a more relaxed and easygoing store. Would never recommend for anyone to work on Oxford street.

You'll do great if you love Lush

Pros

Staff benefits are VERY nice (50% discount, 2 free products a month, can take anything home as a sample) MOST coworkers are great, very diverse cast, I felt very comfortable to be myself The work (talking to customers about products) itself is easy, and is intuitive. Perhaps one of the best retails jobs out there.

Cons

Part of the job is hosting parties, usually for children, unfortunately no way out of it -- these take place on the shopfloor, even when it's very busy. Supervisors and management have a culture of saying things very indirectly, gossiping can become a problem, or they will say things directly but will not give any time to act upon it. They expect you to do your own training outside of paid hours, if you are a Lush fan and know the products already you will be fine but if you're like me and haven't used any before working there they will somehow blame the lack of knowledge on you. They boast about the brand values and diverse cast of employees, yet if you demand access requirements they will not budge.

Pros

The other sales assistants were lovely, the salary was realistic and the customers are amazing

Cons

Supervisors bully and intimidate the sales associate. Extreme power dynamic in the store which makes it an uncomfortable place to work. Store manager refuses to acknowledge this and address it when brought up. Supervisors and manager also keep a close eye on the security camera to watch sales assistants. Lots of nitpicking
