South Lamar Location, Toxic culture, micromanagement, and lack of accountability
Pros
I love Restore as a whole. The CEO, Matt, and the COO, Andy, are incredibly nice and intelligent people. I would just suggest that people looking for the services, go to a different location than South Lamar (Gateway is under the same ownership now too so tread carefully). Mueller has a great facility and the flagship location in South Austin- Arbor Trails is the name of the location. They have a couple hyperbaric oxygen chambers and 2 different kinds of cryotherapy chambers! I loved working at Restore until all the drama started with the change of ownership to Rudy and Edith Mejia.
Cons
I had to heavily revise this because the things that were happening, GD wouldn’t even let me write it in here…. I worked at Restore Hyper Wellness for over 18 months and was a top producer at the studio. Initially, I was excited by the promise of full-time employment and benefits under the new ownership. However, it quickly became clear that the work environment was not sustainable. There was a consistent pattern of micromanagement, conflicting direction from leadership, and lack of transparency regarding compensation. Commission — a large part of my income — was eliminated without warning. I often found myself caught between contradictory instructions from the owners, leading to unnecessary confusion and friction. Leadership frequently undermined staff morale by showing favoritism, poor communication, and in some cases, making employees the scapegoat for management’s own missteps. Concerns about ethical practices and pressure to prioritize upsells over customer well-being created an uncomfortable atmosphere, particularly for those of us with a background in professional, customer-centric sales. There were also concerns related to professionalism and respect. Some members of leadership pushed boundaries that could compromise licensed staff, while others lacked the training or willingness to support the team effectively. These actions impacted team cohesion and made the studio a difficult place to work. Despite this, many of my peers — especially the nursing staff — were incredible professionals who genuinely cared about their work. Unfortunately, their efforts were often overshadowed by the toxicity stemming from the top down.
