It's a wrap for Sustainability Month and what an exciting month it had been! We marked the start of a new chapter for the Human Resources and Sustainability teams at Singtel Group, who are now known collectively as Group People & Sustainability. This reflects our commitment to put people and sustainability at the fore of Singtel's strategic reset, where everyone has a part to play in championing sustainability. Through a series of online webinars and workshops, participants learnt how to take charge of their health and minimise cancer risks; discovered how to utilise the keys to happiness and life satisfaction; found out how to keep energised during work by inculcating healthy eating habits; and were inspired to rethink the possibilities of waste by creating a mask holder upcycled from paper cartons! We also released our seventh Group Sustainability Report in early July. Learn more about our sustainability pillars: https://www.singtel.com/sr2021.
We continue to progress in our sustainability journey and champion initiatives in our four key sustainability areas of Climate Change and Environment, People and Future of Work, Community Impact and Sustainable Value Creation. Here are some highlights from our previous financial year! We also look to the next five years and beyond, where we will minimise environmental impact through decarbonisation and renewable energy; drive digital access, literacy and inclusion for our communities; foster a diverse, inclusive and a future-ready workforce; and develop sustainability in our value chain by strengthening our governance. "We shouldn't take a wait and see approach. My greatest hope is for everyone – the government sector, enterprises, NGOs and the community – to lean in and enable digital access and inclusion. And if we all step up together, we will get there faster." Yuen Kuan Moon, Singtel Group CEO. Our #digitalenablement efforts go beyond our organisation. Through #SingtelFutureMakers, we empower social impact start-ups which aim to tackle social and community challenges. This includes TicTag that uses AI and data annotation to engage seniors and SenzeHub that creates wearables which measure vital signs of seniors and allow early detection for emergencies. Find out how we are closing the digital access gap in vulnerable communities in our latest Sustainability Report 2021: https://www.singtel.com/sr2021.
Creating sustainable value for our stakeholders means upholding the highest standards of responsible business practices and uplifting #customerexperience through innovation. We continue to develop new digital business and services to meet customers’ changing needs. We also drive and embed innovation in our consumer, enterprise and digital business and operations, with #5G as an enabler for our customers, community and the environment. In December 2020, we also launched ‘Jaga you Data!’, a series of light-hearted films to educate us on how to recognise and protect ourselves from scams. Check them out here: https://lnkd.in/ggF2Psc Prior to that, we worked with the government to add a ‘+’ prefix to international incoming calls spoofed to look like local numbers. Climate change impacts our business, people's livelihoods and the communities in which we operate, and tackling it is everyone's responsibility. In alignment with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (#TCFD) framework, we have increased our business' climate resilience through development and upgrading of our network design and infrastructure, while disclosing long-term climate change risks and adaptation. We have since completed a detailed pilot study in northern New South Wales to understand our physical and transitional risks from different climate change scenarios, and undertook an extensive bushfire prediction and adaptation exercise with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). These exercises revealed valuable insights to our climate adaptation strategy outlined in our latest Sustainability Report 2021. COVID-19 has changed the way we live and work but more than before, it has highlighted the importance of managing our impact on the economy, environment and society. Our #sustainability strategy is to create value for all our stakeholders and this year we see a reset of our #ESG priorities. Our latest and seventh Singtel Group Sustainability Report 2021 highlights our plans, initiatives and progress, and our new five-year sustainability targets to 2025. We detail our new materiality assessment and stakeholder engagement exercise held in 2020, which reflect our refreshed sustainability strategic framework and commitments in four key pillars: Climate Change and Environment, People and Future of Work, Community Impact and Sustainable Value Creation. We also highlight our climate risk disclosures in alignment with the TCFD Framework. Find out more here: https://www.singtel.com/sr2021 #sustainabilityreporting #SingtelLife
