Position Overview

Our Client is seeking an experienced professional to lead integrated logistics support initiatives for defense-related projects. This role involves strategic planning, development, and oversight of all logistics activities to ensure that systems, vehicles, and equipment meet operational readiness, maintainability, and reliability standards throughout their lifecycle. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, operations, supply chain, quality assurance, and client teams to create a comprehensive support ecosystem from design through active service.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulating and Implementing Logistics Strategies: Develop comprehensive ILS approaches tailored for defense projects, including preparing detailed support plans and ensuring adherence to contractual and client standards. Define lifecycle support concepts from initial development to disposal, establishing maintenance philosophies at organizational, intermediate, and depot levels. Participate in design reviews to embed supportability considerations early in the product lifecycle.
• Ensuring System Reliability and Availability: Conduct RAM analyses on systems and components, calculating metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and MTTF. Lead failure analysis activities, including FMECA and RCM studies, to identify root causes of field failures. Recommend design modifications to enhance system dependability and ease of maintenance.
• Maintenance Strategy Development: Design preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance plans, establishing inspection schedules and defining maintenance tasks. Determine resource needs including manpower, tools, and facilities, and plan workshop layouts and storage requirements to optimize maintenance workflows.
• Spare Parts and Supply Chain Support: Prepare initial provisioning and recommended spare parts lists, develop inventory strategies, and forecast lifecycle spare requirements. Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure support readiness and optimize spare parts management, balancing repairable and consumable parts.
• Technical Documentation Management: Lead the creation and maintenance of maintenance manuals, operator guides, parts catalogs, troubleshooting procedures, and configuration records. Ensure all documentation complies with relevant standards and undergoes proper revision control.
• Training and Skills Development: Design operator and maintenance training programs, perform training needs assessments, and establish competency standards. Develop training materials, conduct practical assessments, and support train-the-trainer initiatives to build sustainable maintenance capabilities.
• Post-Delivery Support and Service Operations: Oversee after-sales support activities, including incident management, fault reporting, and warranty services. Manage support KPIs, fleet health monitoring, and service level agreements to ensure high-quality support delivery.
• Stakeholder and Customer Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for defense clients, providing updates on logistics performance, sustainment strategies, and RAM metrics. Support tender processes, technical evaluations, and customer reviews, while managing relationships with subcontractors and OEM partners.
• Leadership and Team Development: Lead a team of approximately five specialists, assigning responsibilities across RAM, spare parts, documentation, and field support. Foster team growth, promote best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics support domain.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Industrial, or Logistics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional Experience: Between 8 to 15 years working on defense projects, aerospace, military vehicles, or complex engineering systems, with a focus on logistics support, RAM, or sustainment programs.
• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of ILS methodologies, RAM engineering, lifecycle cost analysis, and relevant standards such as MIL-STD, DEF-STAN, and ASD. Familiarity with obsolescence management, configuration control, and lifecycle planning tools is essential.
• Preferred Skills: Demonstrated leadership capabilities, stakeholder engagement, and excellent communication skills. Ability to interpret technical data, manage cross-functional teams, and navigate support contracts effectively. Experience working with defense clients and understanding their specific requirements is advantageous.
