Pros

Benefits, time off, bonus (if they ever hit their targets)

Cons

Lack of documentation and processes Inability to deploy and scale efficiently They have no idea what their employees are responsible for. Lay employees off all the time without any proper or formal PIP. Agrees to customize everything for clients and then is upset when delivery sucks or is delayed

Pros

I’ve been at League for about 4 months as a Senior Android Engineer on the platform team, working on solutions for one of our clients while also contributing to the core product. Even in a short time, I’ve had direct impact, which is refreshing. Teams are small, ownership is real, and autonomy is high. The engineering and company culture are genuinely strong. People are hired because they care about their work and their coworkers, and it shows. Everyone has a voice, there’s very little politics, and collaboration across teams is encouraged. If you spot a bug in another team’s codebase, you can fix it without stepping on toes. That kind of trust is rare. The Android codebase is generally well maintained and follows clear company standards. There isn’t a lot of tech debt, and when it exists, it actually gets addressed instead of endlessly postponed. It’s motivating to work with engineers who care about code quality and long-term maintainability. Things move fast, but in a good way. People seem to be promoted based on merit, responsibilities are meaningful, and there’s a strong sense that your work matters. The company is performing well and clearly cares about employees, which creates a culture where employees care about the company in return. Work-life balance is taken seriously. Managers check in, and benefits are solid, especially on the health side.

Cons

Like many companies at this stage, onboarding, documentation, and some processes still need improvement. That said, this is also an opportunity: you’re encouraged to contribute and help shape how things work. Priorities can shift, and there can be a fair amount of context switching. You need to be comfortable owning your product and adapting quickly, which may not suit everyone. Compensation is fair but not top-of-market. The main downside for me is the return-to-office mandate for employees in the Toronto area. While many roles are remote, local employees are expected to be in the office, which reduces flexibility.

Pros

Benefits are somewhat generous but thats about where the good runs out.

Cons

The company culture at League has deteriorated significantly and is now barely recognizable. Recent leadership changes have fostered a work environment characterized by long hours and minimal rewards. Bonuses have not been distributed in the past two years, and promotions are rare. Expect annual raises of only 2–3%. For Canadians considering this company, while the job market may be challenging, there are better opportunities available elsewhere.

Pros

Transparent and accessible leadership, meaningful mission, culture-first and value driven, strong compensation offerings ($$, benefits, RRSP matching, ESOP, etc.), flexible and trusting managers, constant learning, smart people.

Cons

In-office mandate, though it is flexible. For some, League's pace is overwhelming and makes work/life balance challenging.

Pros

I've been very happy so far working for this company. They offer generous employee benefits here. The unlimited PTO policy, coupled with the flexibility to work remotely while traveling, shows that the company really trusts its employees. They genuinely care for mental health, which I've seen in their policies and the generally supportive atmosphere. I also deeply appreciate the transparent company culture. You get to collaborate with a team of smart people who all have a positive, 'can-do' attitude. It's truly a friendly, supportive, and nice environment to work in.

Cons

The interview process for certain roles could be quite long but it's worth it.

Toxic Wasteland

Pros

Benefits are decent, that's about it.

Cons

Nobody knows what's going on at this company. They change what they're doing every 5 minutes and have no strategy and zero culture. I couldn't tell you, after working there, what exactly their product is and what they're selling - not even sure they know. It's such a toxic place where everyone is trying to impress the CEO and senior leadership team who do not care about anything other than their paycheques. Every time they hire a new batch of people, it's always because there was a huge round of layoffs momentarily before then - there's no loyalty to working there and people live in fear of the "next round of layoffs", job security doesn't exist here.
