Scope of Work:

As a Counsellor at Jamiyah Singapore’s Community Outreach & Development Department (CODD), you will provide specialized counselling services to individuals, couples, and families facing emotional, psychological, and social challenges. You will be responsible for case management, intervention strategies, and psychoeducational program development, ensuring holistic care and support for the beneficiaries.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct individual, couple, family, and group counselling sessions based on evidence-based therapeutic models (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma- Informed Care).
• Assess clients’ needs, emotional challenges, and risk factors, developing tailored intervention plans.
• Provide marital, family, and divorce-related counselling services, supporting clients in conflict resolution, elationship enhancement, and resilience-building.
• Work with high-conflict families, couples, and vulnerable populations (e.g., children, elderly, and individuals facing trauma).
• Maintain 100% accurate case documentation, adhering to professional ethical guidelines and confidentiality standards.
• Provide crisis intervention and emotional first aid for at-risk clients.
• Make appropriate referrals to healthcare professionals, social service agencies, and support groups as needed.
• Design and deliver psychoeducational workshops and support groups for children, youths, parents, and families on the different topics needed.
• Implement preventive mental health programs in collaboration with community stakeholders.
• Continuously evaluate and improve program content based on participant feedback and impact assessments.
• Work closely with schools, family service centers, healthcare providers, and grassroots organizations to provide integrated support for clients.
• Participate in multi disciplinary case conferences with social workers, psychologists, and legal professionals to ensure holistic intervention strategies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and government agencies to enhance service accessibility.
• Ensure all counselling practices comply with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) and Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) standards.
• Prepare and submit timely and accurate case reports, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.
• Participate in continuous professional development (CPD), including advanced counselling training, workshops, and clinical supervision.
• Stay updated on latest research, methodologies, and policies to enhance service quality.
• Uphold professional ethical guidelines regarding informed consent, boundaries, and confidentiality.
• Provide case reflections and peer support for fellow counsellors and social workers.
• Adhoc duties given by the reporting supervisors.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• SAC-registered counsellor (preferred) or in the process of registration.
• Minimum 3-5 years of counselling experience in a social service or community-based setting.
• Strong knowledge of mental health issues, family dynamics, and trauma-informed practices.
• Experience working with diverse ethnic, religious, and socio-economic groups.
