A great company lost it's way

Pros

Medical benefits. Tech stack. Most coworkers.

Cons

Just an abysmal commercial enterprise. COVID mixed with the narrow vertical seems to be too much for them to overcome. Major commercial blunders with senior leadership (where is that pipeline??!). They keep aging and non profitable apps. The organization has not figured out how to prioritize or market their multi-tenant SaaS platform. Company loves marketing buzzwords like "boundryless" but it was unclear what that meant for product and technology. Too many poor middle managers. Technical people who are not people managers are promoted and create fiefdoms. Product managers don't always understand the issues with the product. The organization does not value the engineering teams. Lots of blood sweat and tears to improve the health, cost and security of the tech stack with little recognition. Draconian return to office policies will decimate their reputation and talent pool in the local market.

Pros

Respected, valued, and fairly compensated

Cons

Upward mobility wasn't there Company finances were behind the curtain (private company), so you never really knew how things were going.

Pros

The technology and mission is good. You're exposed to a lot of new technologies internally but will have to use personal time if you want to fully understand/get training on everything. Good benefits package but the perks that once stood out have been steadily declining each year. Which in some cases, can be understood, except when it gets brought up to upper management you get attacked and called ungrateful. Worked with some extremely talented individuals but unfortunately that group of people has only gotten smaller and smaller.

Cons

The work environment is extremely toxic and a work-life balance is nonexistent. If you attempt to have one, you will be treated as if you don't care and that will be reflected in your future promotions. Management across each department remain in constant conflict because they can't let their egos go. It's a race to be better than one another, rather than focusing on one common goal as a team. But as long as things get done quick, even if it's to the detriment of the employees, senior leadership turns a blind eye. If you're a "yes man", you'll likely be successful. But if you're the type of person who questions things, you'll be considered a difficult employee. The leadership team doesn't take criticism well and refuses to acknowledge issues within themselves in order to change and improve.

Pros

The logo is cool, free healthcare.

Cons

I was just laid off, so this review may seem like retaliation or bad blood. It's not. I'll be fine and the severance was...decent. However, my experience was a feeling of abandonment and isolation. My manager(s) were ok. But my immediate coworkers were uninvolved, self-absorbed complainers. Their only concern was CYA , "don't bother me" and do as little as possible. I was left on an island to sort of figure it out for myself. Some of this was on me; I should have spoken up sooner. We were told this layoff was due to the economy. That's probably true. But the vision of leadership was never clear or completely absent. CEO was nice, but unprepared and unpolished. Combine that with an uncertain economy: how can you succeed? I feel like Tele's best years are probably behind them. The tech seems clunky and archaic compared to Epic, etc. Maybe they'll sell? Anyway, my short stent here basically did nothing to advance my career. Professionally, I'll look back at it as just a meaningless blip on the radar.

Pros

Coworkers make this place a GREAT place to work. If there is one thing TeleTracking is good at, it's hiring people with personality and passion. Immediate managers tend to have a great balance between support and letting people do their jobs without hovering. When it comes to the marketing department, I don't have a single con. The immediate team worked fantastic together and they are a group of very talented professionals that do the absolute most for the company. I genuinely enjoyed the work I did and felt I was reasonably compensated for it.

Cons

After so many rounds of layoffs, it's impossible for staff to feel secure. Many important people have left while SLT pushes and pushes and pushes for expansion the company doesn't seem to be able to support. It felt like never-ending expectations to pick up the work of those who have left while senior leadership consistently pivots on what the new focus will be every 6-months.
