MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Research Fellow will support the Population Health Management (PHM) leadership in advancing the population health research agenda through mixed-methods research approaches and supporting comprehensive evaluation of population health programmes using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Their contributions will be essential to improve care quality, outcomes, equity, and optimise system value for defined patient populations and NHG residents by ensuring research captures both statistical evidence and lived experiences of communities to inform evidence-based practice and policy decisions.

The post holder will support the team in the following area:
Population Health Research and Evaluation: Lead mixed-methods research initiatives combining data analytics with qualitative research methods (such as in-depth interviews, focus groups, ethnographic studies, and participatory research approaches) to generate comprehensive insights. This integrated approach enables researchers to not only identify statistical trends and evaluate intervention effectiveness, but also understand the contextual factors, community perspectives, and social determinants that influence population health outcomes and inform culturally responsive interventions.

Key areas of responsibility:
Support the population health research programme in various focus areas (e.g., preventive health) through mixed-methods approaches to develop a learning ecosystem that translates both quantitative evidence and qualitative understanding into practice

Lead qualitative research initiatives to understand community needs, barriers to care, and social determinants of health, whilst integrating these findings with quantitative data to provide comprehensive population insights

Support the generation of holistic population insights that combine statistical analysis with community voices to identify gaps in prevention and care, and evaluate both the measurable impact and experiential outcomes of interventions and projects

Job Requirements

EDUCATION
PhD degree in health services research, implementation science or a related discipline e.g., medicine, nursing, allied health, genetic counselling, public health, social sciences.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in health services or implementation research, preferably in primary care setting
Design of research projects using a range of methods
Competent in using software packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, statistical packages, NVivo
Familiarity with healthcare settings in Singapore and/or internationally
Advantageous to have exposure in applied health research, social and behavioural sciences, or implementation science
