Overview

Our Client is seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking IoT Systems Engineer to oversee the deployment, integration, and ongoing management of geotechnical sensor networks. This position involves selecting appropriate hardware components, establishing reliable communication channels, and ensuring the integrity of data collection for structural and ground stability assessments. The role requires a blend of hardware setup, cloud system integration, and data quality assurance to support real-time alerts and comprehensive reporting for engineering analysis. The position is located in Kaki Bukit, Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement sensor networks tailored for geotechnical applications, including devices like piezometers, inclinometers, strain gauges, and total stations.
• Evaluate and select field data acquisition hardware such as nodes, loggers, and gateways, ensuring optimal sensor and communication device performance.
• Develop and oversee data pipelines that transfer information from edge devices to cloud or local databases, applying project-specific data transformation rules.
• Manage workflows for data validation, quarantine, and release, while configuring alert systems and escalation procedures to promptly address issues.
• Collaborate with field teams to establish monitoring systems, ensuring continuous data flow and system health checks.
• Implement security best practices for data transmission and storage, maintaining system uptime and reliability.
• Work alongside IT and instrumentation specialists to create dashboards, automate reports, and enhance data visualization processes.
• Provide comprehensive technical documentation and deliver training sessions for field personnel and project stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills

• Degree or diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, Civil, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Certifications in IoT technologies, cloud platforms (such as AWS or Azure), or communication protocols are advantageous.
• Hands-on experience with IoT communication standards like MQTT and FTP, sensor integration, and embedded system development.
• Proficiency with SQL databases, data transformation processes, and cloud service management.
• Knowledge of geotechnical instrumentation systems is highly valued.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot hardware and data flow issues effectively.
